So, it’s been one of those weeks, you know the type, where every morning you wake up with a knot in your stomach and you can’t sleep at night because of said knot. Lots of stuff on my mind and questions in my heart about my path. I know that God hears me and answers my prayers (1 John 5:14-15). But, sometimes, I’m not listening or I don’t like the answer. So, yesterday, I decided to take action and add emotional healing with essential oils to my repertoire.
Which Essential Oils Do I Use?
There are many essential oil brands on the market; I only use and recommend Young Living Essential Oils. I’ve been to one of their farms personally where they grow the plants from a seed, harvest the plants and distill the oils, perform numerous tests for quality (samples are also sent to third-party labs for testing), then seal up the bottle right then and there. No questions about how the plants were grown (without pesticides, hand-weeding).
That said, Young Living has numerous oil blends specifically for dealing with emotions. Yes, let’s admit right now that each of us has emotions, good and not so good, and these emotions can drastically affect the quality of our lives.
We all love the good emotions – love, joy, peace, compassion, humility, anticipation, gratitude, awe, empathy, happiness, wonder, etc. – but oh, those negative ones – disgust, anger, frustration, hate, fear, shame, guilt, distrust, grief, envy, rage, worry – those are the ones that tie us up in knots.
What is Frequency?
Many times, the emotions we feel are the result of patterns that have developed throughout our lives. We all have different genetic dispositions, and through the science of epigenetics, we are learning how these genes can be switched on and off through environmental triggers. Many times, we don’t consciously know why we feel the way we do, and that is an emotional pattern at work. It’s like the emotion has worn a groove in your brain, so it settles into that specific track without much prompting.
Everything in life has a frequency. Your cells/tissues/ organs, the earth itself, your desk, your phone, your computer, the food you eat, the clothes you wear, your emotions, essential oils, yes, everything has a frequency, which is defined as “the rate at which a vibration occurs that constitutes a wave, either in a material (as in sound waves), or in an electromagnetic field (as in radio waves and light), usually measured per second.” Frequency is energy, light, life. Some people refer to frequency as “chi” or “life force.”
How Essential Oils Help with Emotions
A substance with a higher frequency can raise a lower frequency due to the principle of resonance – the tendency for two oscillating bodies to lock into phase so they vibrate in harmony. This principle is key to understanding the effect essential oils can have on our personal electromagnetic frequency.
Because each body system and organ has its own frequency, and each essential oil has its own frequency, each essential oil has an affinity for certain systems/organs. By applying an essential oil with a particular frequency to the human body – through the principle of resonance – the oil’s higher frequency will raise the vibratory quality of that individual. Essential oils in the higher frequency ranges tend to influence the emotions.
How to Clear Emotions with Essential Oils
So, knowing this information, I set about to clear out the negative emotions I had been experiencing. The first essential oil blend I used is called “Clarity,” to help me get to the root cause of my emotions. I simply held the open bottle a few inches under my nose and breathed in while I prayed for clarity in my situation (amazing how the name of the oil blend lets you know what it does!). Soon, I knew the emotions I was dealing with (fear and sadness), and I knew which organs they were residing in (stomach and lungs), because I could feel the knot in my stomach and the heaviness in my lungs.
Then, I gave a rating (on a scale of 1 to 10) to those emotions. They were both a 10; I was feeling it very strongly. I allowed myself to feel the feelings.
Next, I used a series of oil blends to help me release the negative emotions: oils called Acceptance (I needed to accept the reality of the emotions rather than denying them) and Release. Again, I held the open oil bottles a few inches from my nose and breathed in while I mentally pictured the knot in my stomach and the heaviness in my lungs being released. I saw the knot being untied; I pictured the weight on my lungs being removed.
Once the negative emotions were gone, I had to replace them with positives. So, I used these oil blends in the same way: Gratitude, Forgiveness, Humility, Grounding, and Joy. (Just chose the blends that relate to your situation.) And again, I prayed as I used each oil blend and allowed myself to feel these new feelings.
I finished by taking some Sacred Frankincense and a blend called “3 Wise Men” and putting a drop of each in my hands. I rubbed my hands together and inhaled the oils. I thanked God for wisdom in my situation. Then, I rubbed the back of my neck with the oils so they would remain with me all day.
When I woke up this morning, I felt light and happy. I was praising God as I was lying in bed, but soon the knot in my stomach returned. I got up and went through the same process again. I am in the process of breaking the negative emotional pattern using these essential oil blends.
Negative emotions don’t have to control us. We can be in control of our emotions. But, as they say, buried emotions never die. You have to deal with them, not just push them down. I hope this process will help you, too, release any negative emotions in your life. I also recommend a book called “Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils” by Carolyn L. Mein, D.C.
If you need any assistance with emotional healing with essential oils, please let me know. I’d be glad to help out.
