If you know anything about me, you know that I believe that God provided mankind with everything we would ever need to care for us and that He originally provided plants for mankind’s wellness.
Ezekiel 47:12 says, “and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.”
Revelation 22:2 says, “In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
The first essential oil/resin mentioned in the Bible in Genesis 37:25 is also one of the last ones mentioned in the Bible in Revelation 18:13. Do you know what it is? Hint: It was one of the first oils received by the Christ child and it was the last oil offered to Christ on the cross.
The answer is myrrh.
“And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmaelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.” Genesis 37:25 KJV
“cargoes of cinnamon and spice, of incense, myrrh and frankincense, of wine and olive oil, of fine flour and wheat;” Revelation 18:13 NIV
“On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.” Matthew 2:11 NIV
“Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it.” Mark 15:23 NIV
Young Living Myrrh (Burseraceae) Essential Oil is steam distilled from the gum/resin of the Commiphora Myrrha tree in Somalia. It is high (up to 75%) in sesquiterpenes, which are a class of compounds that have a direct effect on the hypothalamus, pituitary, and amygdala, which is the seat of our emotions. It has a mild, earthy aroma.
Well before this precious oil/resin was given to Jesus, myrrh was one of the most desired and expensive items in the world. It promotes spiritual awareness and supports the hormonal, immune and nervous systems, as well as the skin. I love adding it to my daily body care routines. It has a frequency of approximately 105 MHz. In the Bible, myrrh is mentioned 156 times.
Frankincense has been traded on the Arabian Peninsula and in North Africa for more than 5000 years. A mural depicting sacks of frankincense traded from the Land of Punt adorns the walls of the temple of ancient Egyptian Queen Hatshepsut, who died circa 1458 BC. It is mentioned 81 times in the Bible.
Egyptian tradition says that Frankincense is “good from head to toe” and is used to treat every conceivable ill known to man.
Mary and Joseph would have anointed Jesus with it. It was used for skin health and to support the respiratory system. The magi did not have to tell them what to do with it because, in biblical times, everyone knew.

Young Living has another version of frankincense called Sacred Frankincense. This type of frankincense may help deepen spiritual awareness beyond the ability of typical frankincense oil. It grows and is distilled in Oman and is regarded the world over as the rarest, most sought-after aromatic in existence. It is often regarded as the most highly prized form of frankincense and is thought by many to be the type of frankincense referred to in the Bible. Sacred Frankincense is ideal for those who wish to take their spiritual journey and meditation experiences to a higher level.
Frankincense comes in both oil and resin forms.
